Azzurro Derthona: Severini in the 12 for the World Cup, Talpo in silver with the Under 16
Luca Severini 's call-up to the 12-man squad for the 2023 FIBA World Cup in Manila, and Vanni Talpo 's silver medal with the Under-16 national team at the European Championships that concluded yesterday. These are two major achievements for the Azzurri that make Bertram Derthona proud and further connect her to the allure of the Italian national team.
After the friendly match in Ravenna against Puerto Rico, coach Gianmarco Pozzecco selected the 12 athletes who will take part in the World Championships: among them, Luca Severini. The group will meet again in Rome on 16 August, before leaving for China, where Italy will play the last two preparatory friendlies, and subsequently for the Philippines.
The great journey of Italbasket Under 16 in Skopje ended with the defeat in the final against Spain, which only occurred in the last moments. For Vanni Talpo, Giuseppe Mangone's assistant, and for the whole group, the satisfaction of a beautiful silver medal.
