Allianz Derthona Tortona has finished among the top four of Legabasket 's IBSA Next Gen Cup for the second year in a row . The black and white team dominated the quarterfinal against Nutribullet Treviso at the Final Eight in Trento of the Under 19 Excellence tournament for the sixteen Serie A clubs, advancing to the semifinals, just like last year in the final round in Naples.
Arriving at the Il T Quotidiano Arena as the top seed in their group thanks to their qualifying win, Luca Ansaloni 's team secured the match against Treviso, fourth in the other group in the first phase, with a sensational run spanning the first two quarters. Treviso's initial 2-12 lead prompted Allianz to respond with a 22-0 run, with the Bianconeri coming out on top with Josovic, Van Der Knaap, Baldi, Tambwe, and Farias taking center stage. It was this run that effectively broke the deadlock, as Allianz moved from a 26-12 lead to a 16-point lead at halftime (49-33) and sealed their victory with an 8-0 run to open the second half for a 57-33 lead that they never threatened again. Qualification for the semifinals came with the achievement of the "target score," the new technique introduced by Legabasket for the Final Eight: after a 80-61 lead with less than four minutes left in the match, Lorenzo Baldi scored 5 of the 8 points needed to set the final score. He also scored the three-pointer that allowed Tortona to reach the target score of 88 points.
