The telephone fundraising campaign "Beyond the walls" is underway.
Support activities in favor of CIR asylum seekers, refugees and victims of torture: from 21 March to 9 April donate via SMS or from a landline to 45503.
Telephone fundraising campaign kicks off “Beyond the walls” of the Italian Council for Refugees (CIR) to support asylum seekers, refugees and victims of torture: from 21 March to 9 April it will be possible to donate 2 euros to the number 45503 with an SMS sent from TIM, Vodafone, WIND, 3, PosteMobile, CoopVoce and Tiscali mobile phones; donate 2 euros for each call made to the same number from Vodafone and TWT landlines; and 2/5 euros for each call made to the same number from TIM, Infostrada, Fastweb and Tiscali landlines.
In 26 years of activities the CIR assisted over 120 thousand people, He has helped rehabilitate approximately 4 thousand torture victims and fought for the recognition of their rights. Numbers that have increased dramatically in recent years.
With the funds raised we will promote socio-work integration paths and support for leaving reception centers for refugees, concrete opportunities for rehabilitation of torture victims thanks to specialized medical and psychological care, legal protection services and educational inclusion for unaccompanied minors.
“Every day thousands of people continue to flee wars and violence: too many lose their lives at sea, among them many children. The continuous images of their journeys, shipwrecks and arrivals are testimony to a drama that concerns us all. Building walls cannot be the solution, but neither can just opening doors. We believe in Bridges, Doors and Protection. Bridges to avoid dying at sea, Doors to encourage encounters. But behind those doors there must be opportunities and possible solutions, real and safe integration paths: learning the language and culture, training, work, rehabilitation of torture victims, reunification of separated families, reception for unaccompanied children. By facilitating integration we can guarantee protection and peaceful coexistence” declares Roberto Zaccaria President of the CIR.
This is what we do at the Italian Council for Refugees, every day: we work so that this meeting between different cultures does not create marginality and insecurity, but real opportunities for integration in dignified reception conditions, in full respect of human rights. Our legal, social, cultural mediators, medical and psychological workers work together to welcome and reconstruct the interrupted life paths of those who have been forced to leave their country, very often in dramatic conditions.
Alongside the Italian Council for Refugees for refugee rights there will be Monica Guerritore, Claudio Amendola and Alessio Boni. The Italian Basketball Federation also supports this campaign and the commitment of the Italian Council for Refugees.

To support the CIR's commitment alongside asylum seekers, refugees and victims of torture, from 21 March to 9 April it is possible to donate 2 euros by SMS or 2 or 5 euros from a landline to the number 45503.
