A three-point basket by Severini 40 seconds from the end is worth the decisive overtaking, which allows Bertram Derthona to return to victory in the championship. A balanced match was staged in Casale Monferrato, in which the Bianconeri chased Napoli for some stretches before managing to land the winning shot in the closing stages.
First period made of a balance between partials and counterpartials at PalaEnergica: Napoli closes it with a 20-23 lead thanks to Howard's plays. In the second half the race continues with the same leitmotif, with GeVi finding baskets to maintain their margin (30-35) at halftime.
Upon returning from the changing rooms, Bertram found greater fluidity in attack and, driven by Harper's plays, had an impact on the match: in the 30th minute the two teams were tied at 53 points. Napoli opened the final period with a break of 0-7 which the new extension is worth it, before Macura and Filloy bring Derthona back into contact: we enter the last three minutes with the guests ahead 68-69. The final is thrilling, Napoli starts the last minute ahead by one point (71-72), Severini's triple seals the overtaking, Williams in the following action makes it 1/2 to the line. In the final actions, Bertram's defense was decisive in winning the match, which came with a score of 74-73.
Thus coach Marco Ramondino at the end of the race: “For our part there must be great satisfaction and joy for a victory in a difficult match. We need to give great credit to the Napoli staff for the match plan put into practice, lowering the pace with changes in defense and zone. In this match we had difficulty finding continuity and rhythm in attack, but in the second half it was important to improve our quality after a first in which we shot very poorly from three points despite the good shots we constructed. In addition to the mental and character aspect, in the second half the team took the field with more naturalness and greater internal play, finding more balance and good solutions by putting the ball in the high post. At the start of the game we had a good presence, then from 17-11 in the first quarter the ups and downs began, while in the end the three-point baskets, except one by Macura, came from well-constructed shots.".
