Bertram aims for redemption in Race 2: "Our confidence remains unchanged."
After defeat In Game 1 against Umana Reyer Venezia, Bertram Derthona Tortona immediately gets back on track to tie the quarterfinal series, again at the Palasport Taliercio. Game 2, scheduled for Tuesday, May 19th at 20:30 PM, will be broadcast live on LBATV.
How did Game 1 go against Reyer Venezia?
The quarterfinal opener between Neven Spahija's team and Mario Fioretti's team saw the home team prevail 89-82 with an excellent rebounding performance. Derthona, however, managed to reduce the deficit from -18 to -4 in the final minute, led by Prentiss Hubb's 20 points.
The point of Iacopo Squarcina
As usual, the challenge is presented by one of Mario Fioretti's assistants. "Clearly, rebounds were a key factor; they dominated. We'll have to be better at helping each other as a team, both on the outside and from behind," begins Iacopo Squarcina.
"We need to improve, both with our outside players and our big men, to make physical contact and help us avoid conceding second possessions. All of this must be combined with closeout work against high-quality shooters like them," emphasizes Coach Fioretti's assistant.
"Finishing with a ball to get back to within one point is indicative of a team with character, quality, and energy to spare. Our confidence doesn't change, if anything, we add a little anger: that happens when you lose and can't do what you do best. The important thing is that it's not nervousness," he says.
"We knew it wouldn't be an easy trip: the goal was to win at least one of the two games. Now we approach Game 2 with the conviction and awareness that we have to get many small things right. Starting with defense and moving on to sharing the ball to get to the win in Laguna."
