Defeat in the sprint in Naples for Bertram Derthona, at the end of a match that the hosts - without Parks and Elegar, the latter injured in the warm-up - led for large stretches. The team coached by coach Ramondino, never tamed, came back into contact several times in the score taking advantage of the ballistic performance of Ariel Filloy, without however managing to complete the comeback.
Complex first quarter for Bertram at PalaBarbuto: Napoli finds solutions in quick transition and reaches +16 (23-7 after 9 minutes). Derthona, between the first and second period, produces a maxi partial of 4-22, which began with Filloy's shooting precision (3/3 from the arc) and then fueled by the collective offensive clarity, which is worth the overtaking at the end of a long chase (27-29 at 15'). In the following moments, Gevi placed a counter break of 10-0 which allowed her to close the opening twenty minutes of the match with a 39-36 lead.
Balance at the start of the third quarter, before Napoli's acceleration, which came thanks to the plays of Velicka, Rich and Lombardi who pushed it to 60-50 in the 30th minute. In the last quarter GeVi reaches +14 (69-55) before Tortona's return, led above all by the very hot hand of Filloy. This brings us to the final sprint: Napoli maintains their lead thanks to their clarity on the line following the opponent's systematic foul, but Bertram has one last chance to impact the match. Tavernelli's running three-point shot goes off the rim, Derthona loses 82-79.
Thus coach Marco Ramondino at the end of the race: ʺCongratulations to Napoli for the victory, deserved for the greater continuity they had in the forty minutes. We must become aware of the fact that we are a team that has ups and downs: the sooner we realize this tendency, the sooner we can counter it. To do this, an effort is needed to achieve more continuity in matches. Napoli, despite the last-minute absence of Elegar, to whom I wish good luck, was very aggressive in defence, slowing down our games and keeping us away from the area. We didn't impact the match well and we could have had a higher level of physicality at certain moments of the match. The analysis must take into account the skill they had and our inability to read what they proposed to us for the entire duration of the competition..
