Derthona regains its smile and victory: Brescia defeated 88-80 at Nova Arena

After two consecutive defeats, Bertram Derthona Tortona found a smile in front of their fans, defeating Germani Brescia 88-80 at the end of an emotional match.
Mario Fioretti's team finished with four players in double figures: Tommaso Baldasso (18 points with 4/5 from the arc), Justin Gorham (16 points and 7 rebounds), Prentiss Hubb (12 points and 7 assists) and Dominik Olejniczak (10 points and 5 rebounds).
Derthona defeats Brescia with a sensational fourth quarter
The match at the Nova Arena got off to a difficult start for the Bianconeri due to Dominik Olejniczak's third foul with 5:30 left in the first quarter, while Brescia took advantage to build a 6-point lead (12-6) through Miro Bilan. Two solo efforts by Prentiss Hubb brought Bertram back within touching distance, but Amedeo Della Valle responded from beyond the arc with his signature shot. At the end of the first quarter, Brescia led 22-18.
The second quarter began with a long-distance battle between Hubb and newcomer Jayden Nunn. The Leonessa broke away with 3:50 left, with a tap-in by Jason Burnell forcing Mario Fioretti to call a timeout with the score at 35-28. A 6-0 run by the Bianconeri brought Bertram back to within a single point (35-34) with 1:30 left. At halftime, the score was 38-38.
The second half started off well for Bertram, who secured their temporary lead of +4 (43-39) with a three-pointer from the corner by Strautins. The two teams remained tied for much of the third quarter, despite some offensive surges from Bertram courtesy of Justin Gorham. Brescia tied the score at 54-54, but Derthona responded with a 7-2 run to make it 61-56 at the end of the third quarter.
Jason Burnell's run for Brescia continued, but it was Brekkott Chapman who hit a high-quality 3-and-1 to restore Bertram's two-possession lead (66-60) early in the fourth quarter. The gap widened with 4:50 to play, with a three-pointer from captain Baldasso making it an 11-pointer (74-63).
The counterattack by Juventus' number 11 to give Mario Fioretti's team a 16-point lead (79-63) was the icing on the cake on a Sunday where Derthona regained their composure after two consecutive losses. After the victory against Germani, the Lions' next match is on May 10th at 17:00 PM at the Taliercio against Umana Reyer Venezia, the final match of the Regular Season before the LBA playoffs.
