A nostalgic arrival: Giulio Gazzotti returns to Derthona Basket.

Derthona Basket announces that it has reached an agreement with the athlete Giulio Gazzotti , who will be part of the 2026/27 roster of the team coached by Mario Fioretti.

This marks a return to the black and white for Gazzotti, one of the key players in the Serie A2 championship victory that led to Bertram's historic promotion to Serie A in the summer of 2021. A 202cm center born in 1991, after a successful stint at Tortona, the Bologna native spent further seasons in the second division at Ravenna, Forlì, and Verona for two years, before returning last year to Pallacanestro Forlì 2.015. His list of achievements also includes winning the 2019 Coppa Italia LBA with Vanoli Cremona.

Gazzotti thus joins the four confirmed players Justin Gorham, Prentiss Hubb, Dominik Olejniczak and Andrea Pecchia and the new Italian U19 Eccellenza champion Edoardo Di Meo, promoted from the Club's youth teams, in the team that will be competing in both the Serie A and EuroCup fronts.

"I shared extraordinary seasons with Giulio in Cremona. He's a special guy and a player you always want in your locker room. They already know that at Tortona. His experience and his qualities will be invaluable ," commented general manager Gianmaria Vacirca.

Gazzotti's words

"I'm very happy with the journey we began on June 29, 2021, when we won the championship: that's where Derthona's Serie A adventure began, and we've achieved great things in recent years in the top flight and at the European level ," Gazzotti said of his second spell with the Lions. "It's a great source of pride for me to be back in the team now, just as it is to return to Tortona because I know the people who work at the club. So, when I was offered the opportunity to be a Derthona player again, I was obviously thrilled."

"I've been asked to act as a bridge between the Italian and American players. I'll likely be the oldest player on the roster, so I'll need to leverage my experience and be ready to tackle the day-to-day tasks, fully accommodating the coach and the club's needs."
