Derthona seals its debut in front of its fans with a victory, defeating Urania Milano

Bertram Derthona Tortona made their first home outing of the 2026-27 preseason in the training gym of the Cittadella dello Sport facility, which was nearly sold out in its 400-seat capacity for their scrimmage against Wegreenit Urania Milano, another Serie A2 team, matching Fortitudo Bologna, whom they faced four days earlier in Piacenza in their first match. This time, it was a one-sided game for the home team, who won 93-50 after quickly pulling away early with a team-wide effort and focused on maintaining the intensity on both ends of the court in the second half.
The match
Aljami Durham and Dominik Olejniczak are still sidelined with a muscle injury, while Poland's Dominik Olejniczak is playing away at Tortona. Urania is weakened by the absence of both Americans, who were available due to the withdrawals of Tyreek Scott-Grayson and, at the very last minute, Anthony Morse. For Bertram, coach Fioretti confirmed the same starting five from the first scrimmage against Fortitudo Bologna: Hubb, Maddox, Jallow, Gorham, and Eboua. Maddox's two-and-a-half three-pointer sparked a quick break for the home team, with everyone contributing to the team's solid double-digit lead, 23-8 at the 7th minute after five straight points from Eboua and a three-pointer from Hubb.
The first quarter ended with a 21-point lead, 35-14, but the shooting accuracy from beyond the arc by Vene and Bortolani (10/23 from three for Derthona in the first half, 14/36 at the end) allowed the score to reach +30 with just two minutes left on the clock in the second quarter, 45-15.
After a 50-28 halftime lead, the 10-0 run at the start of the third quarter, with Eboua showcasing his athleticism, opened the door to a second half that followed the same pattern as the first, leading to a final score of 93-50.
Bertram's next match is in three days, again at the Facility, on Saturday, August 29th at 17:30 PM against Acqua S. Bernardo Cantù, their first match against an opponent Pecchia and his teammates will also face in the league. The match will be played behind closed doors.
