32nd Carnival Cup: nice 4th place for the U19 Excellence in the important Piombino tournament. The comment of Ablatico and coach Ansaloni
The cut at the end of the qualifying round was made with two convincing victories against Pall. Forlì 2.015 and Next Step Academy Rapallo , a defeat that came in the final two minutes against the former defending champion and tournament finalist Orange1 Bassano , another one that came in the very last seconds of the final for 3rd place against EA7 Emporio Armani Milano , with the only larger defeat suffered in the semi-final at the hands of the winner Stella Azzurra Roma . It is the path that led the U19 Eccellenza of Bertram Yachts Derthona to close in an honorable 4th place in its first participation in the prestigious Coppa Carnevale di Piombino , to which were also added individual awards to Nicholas Errica as the best scorer of the tournament (15.2 points on average) and to Lamine Tandia for inclusion in the best quintet.
Furthermore, upon returning from the long week spent on the shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea, that same group of players then achieved two victories out of two in Serie C Gold which raised the Gulliver Supermarkets Derthona in 5th place in the ranking and secured themathematical access to the playoffs in the top regional senior championship with 4 rounds to spare, keeping the possibility of accessing next year's Interregional Serie B ever more alive.
STATEMENTS
Only positive opinion for the Juventus management for the team's behavior at the Carnival Cup. The executive vice president of the Derthona Basketball Lab, Andrea Ablatico"It was an excellent experience from many points of view. It was also tiring, the boys and the staff were subjected to forced stress for six days in a row and seeing what kind of reaction the boys had to events linked one after the other I think it is important for us to have a overall judgment on the kids and for them to approach a later type of career with the grown-ups. We all played very hard-fought, very tense matches, with very strong teams or at least of our level, we never lost clearly, we were never "pinned". We are proud of how we performed. Now let's move on, there are still many things to do. I want to thank the ASD Pallacanestro Piombino club and the president Francesco Barsotti for this splendid opportunity that has been given to us".
The head coach's comment was no less satisfied Luca Ansaloni"For all of us there was the opportunity to compete with teams that we will not have the opportunity to face this season, apart from Olimpia Milano who we will meet again in April in the quarter-final of the Final Eight of the Next Gen Cup, but let's say that many other we faced teams from the first level of the Italian youth scene. We saw that in many things we are already at a decent level, in others we need to improve, but it was useful to take measures. It was above all useful to give the kids experience, this was the fundamental thing".
