Third consecutive victory for Bertram Derthona, which takes a significant step towards qualifying for the playoffs with the success over Varese. PalaEnergica Paolo Ferraris' match had two sides: for two and a half quarters it was led and led by the Lions, who then suffered a great comeback from Varese and won the match again in the final minutes. Of note is the career high Italian Mike Daum (33 p), Elvar Fridriksson's debut in black and white (5 p in 9') and the great three-point shooting percentage (15/28, 53%).

Both teams started the match at a high pace, alternating two- and three-point shots with balance, converting them regularly: Bertram ended the first quarter leading 22-21. In the second half, Derthona progressively widened their margin, taking advantage of the good shooting percentages from the field (21/35, 58%) to end the initial twenty minutes ahead 54-45.

Upon returning from the locker rooms, the team coached by coach Ramondino, driven by the baskets of Daum, Macura and Wright, produced a new breakthrough that updated the maximum advantage (+17, 72-55). In the moment of maximum difficulty, Varese scores a counter break of 0-11 which brings them closer in the score (72-66 in the 28th minute). In the final, the plays of Filloy and Severini made it 78-68 in the 30th minute. The last quarter is a continuous back and forth between the two teams, with Varese who, possession after possession, regains parity with Sorokas' baskets (89-89 in the 35th minute). At this point, Derthona regains their feeling with the basket and makes the decisive move, winning 104-99.

Thus coach Marco Ramondino at the end of the race: “The match for our part was very good, of great quality offensively thanks to the newfound rhythm that we had lost a bit due to tiredness. Many players were involved, in my opinion the best thing was that with both Brescia and Varese the decisive basket that ended the game came after all the players had touched the ball. We must hold on to this image because it represents us and because we must always try to be like this. I underline the character and dedication of our players, as in the partial matches produced by Varese we suffered a bit of the blow without however ever slipping: the positive thing was that we regrouped and did the right things on both sides of the pitch at the maximum moment exaltation of Varese. It's not an easy period of the season, the matches really matter a lot so it's not easy to play freely and confidently with the tiredness of a long season and the importance of the matches. For this reason it is a very good victory also in terms of content. I find it difficult to evaluate Fridriksson's performance, who arrived a fortnight ago and has done five training sessions: however, I am happy with his attitude and the help he has given us in training since last week.".
